Sanger Heart to Become Cardiology Center of Appalachian Regional Healthcare

Staff Report. January 2, 2012. BOONE --  Effective January 1, 2012,  Sanger Heart  & Vascular Institute-Boone will become The Cardiology Center of  Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS). The Cardiology Center will remain in the same location as the previous Sanger office, on the campus of Watauga Medical Center at 175 Mary Street in Boone. Dr. Peter Ashline, Dr. Tyson Bennett, and Katherine Smid, MS, ACNP-BC, will continue to provide care at the new Cardiology Center. In addition, the Center welcomes Joan Stelzner, MS, ANP-BC to the practice.

"These providers are highly trained and are looking forward to meeting your inpatient and outpatient cardiology needs. We anticipate this will be a seamless transition in continuing to provide high quality cardiology care," shared Kim Bianca, ARHS VP for System Service Lines.

ARHS is in the process of recruiting two new cardiologists to the area in anticipation of providing outreach activities to neighboring counties.

“I am delighted to continue to care for the cardiology needs of those in our community and am pleased that ARHS has decided to establish The Cardiology Center,” stated Peter Ashline, MD, Cardiologist. The staff of the Cardiology Center of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System looks forward to serving your cardiology needs for many years to come.

All patient charts from Sanger-Boone will transition to The Cardiology Center of ARHS.  As a current patient, you do not need to do anything to continue to remain a patient of the center.

The telephone number for The Cardiology Center will remain the same as that for Sanger's office, 828-264-9664. For more information about the services of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System, visit www.apprhs.org.
