Blowing Rock's Sharrett to Speak at Home Show

Staff Report. May 16, 2011. BOONE -- In what can only be described as a challenging real estate and construction market, buying foreclosed and lots are popular themes these days. Those attending the High Country Home Builders Home Show this weekend at the Holmes Convocation Center in Boone will have an opportunity to learn more in free seminars on buying foreclosed homes and building lots, as well as financing affordable construction.

Pat McGuire of BB&T, a mortgage loan originator, and Robbie Sharrett, a local foreclosure sales specialist, will lead the seminars, which will be held in Room 003 near the Home Show main entrance.

"Financing Affordable New Construction" will be offered at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 20, and will cover all types of new housing, from custom home construction to modular and manufactured housing.  The seminar will also feature an overview of affordable lots for sale.

"Buying and Financing Foreclosed Property" will be offered at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday, and 11:00 pm on Saturday.  The workshop will provide guidance in the foreclosure purchase process, as well as a summary of the types of loans available for buying foreclosed homes.  Included in the seminar will be an analysis of the local foreclosure market, as well as selected REO for sale being reviewed.

"Low interest rates and falling home and lot prices offer an opportunity to obtain affordable housing in our high priced real estate market," noted Robbie Sharrett, a local realtor with 28 years of experience as a High Country real estate sales professional. "These seminars were set up to provide interested consumers with the risk vs. reward assessment of buying foreclosed property.  Loan programs available for buying foreclosures, particularly those needing large repairs, will be discussed with a local lender."

Admission to the Home Show and the seminars is free. Parking is available near the Holmes Center.
