Non-Profits the Focus of ACT Workshop

Special Report to Blowing Rock News. July 8, 2011. BOONE -- ACT, Appalachian State University’s volunteer clearinghouse, is hosting a workshop for nonprofit agencies on Thursday, Aug. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Plemmons Student Union’s Grandfather Mountain Ballroom.

The workshop is titled “Stone Soup: Sustaining Nonprofits in the New Economy.” It is designed to help nonprofit agencies find ways to raise money and/or sustain their agencies through shared resources.

The keynote speaker will be Susan Wolff, YCommunity senior financial Development director, with the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.

The workshop is free, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a breakfast food item to share with others; such as a cup of fruit, muffins or bagels in keeping with the Stone Soup theme that when people share their resources, no matter how small, everyone benefits.
