The Raleigh Report by Cullie Tarleton for November 8, 2010
Special to Blowing Rock News. November 8, 2010. RALEIGH, NC -- Each Week, Blowing Rock News is pleased to publish State Representative Cullie Tarleton's "The Raleigh Report," which he prepares each week as a service to the constituents of NC House District 93 (Ashe and Watauga Counties).
From the Office of Representative Cullie Tarleton
Thanks to all of you who exercised your right to vote and who supported me at the polls last Tuesday. Unfortunately I was not successful in my re-election effort. It has been a privilege for me to represent the citizens of Ashe and Watauga Counties in the N. C. House. Even though I will no longer be there, I will continue to stand up for the things that I believe in -- good education for our children, sound fiscal policies for our state, building a favorable economic climate for business, and creating new jobs. The legislature will certainly have its challenges ahead in the coming year. It must once again balance the budget, as is required by our State Constitution, and continue to move our state forward with meaningful reform. This year the legislature will have the added duty that comes following every national census. They will have to draw new legislative and congressional districts. This process is critical in helping to make sure that you and your neighbors are properly represented in government.
Thank you again for giving me the opportunity and privilege to represent you. Even though I wasn’t re-elected, I will continue to be active on your behalf for the balance of the year until my term ends on 12-31. If you have any questions or if I can be of service to you, please contact me. I can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 828-295-3353. Thank you as always for your interest in North Carolina and state government.
Notes
North Carolina remains the state with the “Top Business Climate,” according to Site Selection magazine. It is the sixth year in a row and the ninth time in 10 years that the state has taken the top honor in the annual ranking by Site Selection, one of the nation’s premier economic development magazines. As part of the ranking, the magazine surveys corporate executives that help businesses select new locations. This year, those executives ranked the Tar Heel state as the top for ease of doing business.
This will be my last Raleigh Report. Thank you for reading it. I have always received great feedback from readers who enjoyed learning what was happening in state government. As we go into the holiday season, Sylvia joins me in extending our best wishes to each of you and your families. Thank you.
