May 21, 2013. BOONE—Appalachian State University will hold a Memorial Day ceremony May 27 at 7:30 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial on the west side of the Dougherty Administration Building. The ceremony will honor thosewho died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The public is invited to attend.

Special Report. May 20, 2013. BOONE, NC -- Disaster relief and rescue teams from Western North Carolina were already mobilizing Monday night, with international Christian relief organization Samaritan's Purse leading the way.  Late Monday night, a spokesperson with the Boone-based relief agency communicated to Blowing Rock News that teams will leave for storm-ravaged Oklahoma before dawn on Tuesday morning.

This is an event to raise awareness and funding for the North Carolina Special Olympics. The run will start at 10 a.m. at the Boone Police Department. The route will go through App State on Rivers Street and return to the Boone Police Department.
