By David Rogers. June 10, 2011. BLOWING ROCK --  Sandy Miller (left) is once again on a mission: to add to the Blowing Rock Community Foundation's endowment fund -- while having fun in exciting and creative ways.

With a full lineup of activities planned, ranging from golf and tennis tournaments, a bike ride, and three performances of "Groovy Nights III", the Blowing Rock Community Foundation kicked off its 2011 fundraising campaign Friday night at Blowing Rock Country Club's Lake House. An estimated 150 business sponsors and major individual donors attended. 

"Every year," said Sandy Miller, Chairman of the Blowing Rock Community Foundation's Board of Directors, "we are blown away by the enthusiastic support of the work of the Foundation.  Our grants to local non-profit agencies and our college scholarships to deserving students would simply not be possible without the generous support of our donors and sponsors, and the hard work of our committee members."

"Community Service Day" is scheduled for August 20th, including the Bike Ride and Golf and Tennis Tournaments, as well as a dinner after the golf tournament.  In addition, the Community Foundation produces Groovy Nights, the popular "celeberity" lip-synching event that plays to sold-out audiences.  This year, Groovy Nights III will be August 14th, 16th, and 19th, and choreographers and artistic directors are already hard at work helping organize the "performers."
