Rotary Celebrates "Changing of the Guard"
By David Rogers. June 21, 2011. BLOWING ROCK -- "In with the new, out with the old" was the theme for The Rotary Club of Blowing Rock's June board of directors meeting on Monday, its last board meeting of the club fiscal year that ends June 30th.
Club President for 2010-2011, Rita Davis, will be handing over the gavel to 2011-2012 President Vernon Dunn Monday night, when the club gathers for its annual awards and recognition banquet at Chetola Mountain Resort & Spa in Blowing Rock. Monday night's festivities will also include the induction of Blowing Rock's Bill Parker as District Governor for Rotary District 7670 (Western North Carolina), the first time that a Blowing Rock member has held the office.
In addition to addressing club business at yesterday's board meeting, President Elect Dunn formally announced his slate of officers for the 2011-2012 club year, which starts July 1st. The slate includes:
