Community Foundation Accepting Grant Applications

By David Rogers. August 1, 2011. BLOWING ROCK -- With major fundraisers "Groovy Nights" and "Community Service Day" events just around the corner, the Blowing Rock Community Foundation has set a deadline of September 23rd for non-profit organizations in Blowing Rock to submit grant applications.

According to the organization's website, the 2010 grants totaled $37,850.00, including:

Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S.	$1,000
Blowing Rock Police	$2,500
Blowing Rock Historical Society	$1,000
Blowing Rock Community Club	$1,500
Brownies	$500
Girl Scouts of Blowing Rock	$500
Blowing Rock Appearance Appreciation Commission	$2,500
Blowing Rock Art & History Museum	$2,000
Community Care Clinic	$2,500
Wildlife	$300

The Community Foundation is required by Internal Revenue Service regulations to restrict its grants to 501c(3) or otherwise qualified organizations. Based on the Foundation's By-Laws, grants are restricted to entities that impact "the Greater Blowing Rock Area."
