Rumple "Finishes Off" 125th Anniversary --1800s Style

BLOWING ROCK -- With ample servings of roast venison, chicken pot pie, sweet potatoes and serving dishes overflowing with other delectables -- including a 9-layer spiced apple flat cake from an 1800s recipe -- Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church finished off its year-long 125th Anniversary celebration with an "1800s Homecoming Dinner" to beat all on Saturday. If any of the guests left hungry, it was their own fault!

St. Mary's to Feature Choral Mass: Requiem in D Minor

Staff Report. October 21, 2012. BLOWING ROCK -- St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church will celebrate the "Feast of All Souls" with a full choral mass featuring the Requiem in D Minor by Gabriel Fauré on Sunday, October 28th, at 5:00 pm, in the nave of the church.  Requiem masses celebrate the lives of those who have died and express our hope for eternal rest for the souls of the departed.

Belly laughs and chuckles erupted amid the frequent "amens," as the master public speaker held the spine-tingled attention of a captivated throng.
