BLOWING ROCK -- Horse linament sales in Blowing Rock skyrocketed on Sunday, after 25 members of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church worked several hours, volunteering to "work up a sweat" (and a few bllisters) spreading mulch and performing other landscaping and gardening jobs around the church campus. They came in tank tops and t-shirts, sneakers and work boots, short pants and overalls. There were new, spotless, never-before-worn work gloves and old ragged ones that looked like they had survived three world wars. There were ball caps, Panama hats and headbands. And there were plenty of smiles as the members dug into three truckloads of mulch dumped in the parking lot, or piloted wheelbarrows around campus to deliver material for rakers to spread throughout the landscaping and gardens.

We have evidence that many worked up a sweat! (It only looks like some were supervising!)

Another work day is scheduled for May 21st.
