April 10, 2013. BOONE -- The Watauga County Board of Education will meet in work session at 7:00 p.m. on April 15th at the Gragg Education Center. The purposes of the meeting are to discuss and plan for the Watauga County Schools budget for 2013-14 and to discuss and approve a field trip for 8th graders at Bethel Elementary.

BOONE— Providence Day School in Charlotte won first place and Grandview Middle School in Hickory won second place in the regional N.C. State High School Mathematics Contest held at Appalachian State University on Wednesday, March 20. The schools won in the algebra 1 and common core math 1 portion of the contest.

GREENSBORO, NC -- Thirteen students from Watauga High School’s Band and Orchestra program were selected for the Western Region Orchestra clinic held March 1-3 at UNC-Greensboro.  The WHS students were chosen by audition in January and were invited to participate in one of two orchestras comprised of the top players in the region.
