Valle Crucis Students Hear from Governor

Staff Report. December 21, 2011. VALLE CRUCIS -- Seventh grade students in David Shack's science classes at Valle Crucis School got a letter from the Governor's Office last week.

After writing to the Governor about their concerns about the health effects of tobacco use, the students were nonetheless surprised and elated last week when they received a reply from the Governor's Office.

The students' letter-writing initiative followed a presentation to Mr. Shack's classes from Teen Tobacco Use Prevention Coordinator Dana Holden, who encouraged the 7th graders to find ways to help protect themselves and others from the harmful effects of tobacco use.
