Corporate Donations to Blowing Rock School -- Driven by Community Members!

It takes only a little bit of extra effort, but members of the Blowing Rock community can help generate corporate contributions to Blowing Rock School by clipping product codes, saving beverage caps and sauce caps, and entering certain information online.  The best part? A lot of the products you use or consume every day qualify for credit!

Tracy Brown is serving as "Parent Volunteer" coordinator for the two programs.

Box Tops for Education

The Box Tops for Education program gives money to schools based on qualifying purchases at over 175 retailers and e-tailers, including names like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Gap, Banana Republic, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Cabela's, Coldwater Creek, Dell, Disney, Eddie Bauer, Expedia, Godiva, hotels.com, Hotwire, hp, J.Jill,  J.C. Penney, K-Mart, Kohl's, Lands' End, Nike, Office Max, Old Navy, Patagonia, PetSmart, Ralph Lauren, Reebok, Sam's Club, Sears, Sony, Staples, Starbucks, Target, The Limited, Victoria's Secret, Vistaprint, Walgreens and many more.

To date, according to the program website, Blowing Rock School has earned $821 during the 2011-2012 academic year.

It's easy to sign up -- go to http://www.boxtops4education.com/ -- and start supporting the school with your purchases.  Since 2002, the school has earned $5,248 from the program.  The more people in the community that participate, the more relief our school receives from recent budget woes in Watauga County and North Carolina!

Labels for Education

Campbell's Soups has a program called "Labels for Education".  You just clip proofs of purchase from a wide variety of products and turn them into the school. The schools earn points with each proof, and when they accumulate enough points, they redeem them for merchandise in Arts, Athletics or Academics categories.  According to the program website, at July 31, 2011, Blowing Rock School had 14,896 points, and during this school year it has grown to 23,457 points.  That's enough for 24 full size basketballs, or 15 books for the library, or two camcorders, or two copiers/printers, or two desktop scanners, or 23 dozen ball point pens, or any number of hundreds of products the teachers and students might need or use.

To learn more, just got to www.labelsforeducation.com.  Qualifying products include not only Campbells' soups, but products from brand names like Pepperidge Farm, Goldfish, Prego, V8, Glad, Pace, Dannon, People Magazine, Emerald Nuts, BIC pens and markers, Pop Secret, and more.

Mrs. Brown says, "If you don't clip the proofs for the 'Labels' program or submit product codes for the 'Box Tops' program, that is money quite literally going in the trash that could be going to help Blowing Rock School purchase much needed supplies and equipment!"

Trish Kolasch of Blowing Rock Schools suggested to Blowing Rock News that people in the community wanting participate may drop the labels and box tops off at the school office, or simply mail them to: Blowing Rock School, P.O Box 228, Blowing Rock 28605.
