Humane Society Golf Blessed with Great Weather, Greater Numbers By David Rogers. May 21, 2012. BLOWING ROCK -- A "Chamber of Commerce" day greeted the 104 golfers that turned out for the 1st Annual Watauga Humane Society Golf Tournament on Friday (May 18, 2012).
Record Participation in Saturday's Operation Medicine Cabinet, Blowing Rock Lags By David Rogers. May 21 2012. BLOWING ROCK -- Although a record number of High Country residents (269) participated in Saturday's Operation Medicine Cabinet, the collection site in Blowing Rock lagged with only 20 people turning in expired or unused pills, liquid medications, and sharps. Region-wide, the sponsoring organizations saw a 57% increase in the number of people participating on Saturday compared to May 2011 and an 88% increase vs. October 2011. ASU Rallies to Overcome Elon, 4-3 in SoCon Men's Tennis Quarterfinals

CHARLESTON, SC - With an upset looking almost certain, Appalachian State University men's tennis rallied to defeat Elon, 4-3, in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Southern Conference Championship, at College of Charleston Tennis Center on Friday. With the win, the third-seeded Mountaineers (15-6-1) advance to face No. 2 Samford (16-4) on Saturday.

Three Watauga HS Individuals, One Relay Team Post "National Elite" Performances at NC State Championships
