ASU Volleyball Recruits Earn All-America Honors
Special Report to Blowing Rock News from GoASU. February 3, 2011. BOONE – Appalachian State University volleyball saw two of its future members earn high school all-America honors from PrepVolleyball.com earlier this week.
Paige Brown (Overland Park, Kan./St. James Academy) and Emily Corrigan (John's Creek, Ga./Chattahoochee) were named as high school all-Americans after oustanding senior seasons.
"I'm extremely excited for Paige and Emily for being named high school all-Americans," said Mountaineer head coach Matt Ginipro. "They are both incredible players and we can't wait to get them in a Black & Gold Jersey. I have no doubt that the success they've brought to their high school teams will continue here in Boone."
Corrigan earned all-area and all-state honors as a junior and senior. She ended her time at Chattahoochee as the school's record holder in single-season kills (606) and ranked second in career kills (1,455 while averaging an impressive 4.1 kills per set during her high school career.
Brown, the younger sister of current ASU setter Lauren Brown, was a two-time all-state selection, an AVCA all-America finalist in 2011, was nominated for the Gatorade Player of the Year award, earned Kansas State Player of the Year honors and was named to the Under Armour all-America Watch List.
In addition to her all-America accolades, Brown has also been nominated by PrepVolleyball.com for the Andi Collins Award as the nation's top high-school setter and is a finalist for National Player of the Year.
"I'm also very proud of Paige for being nominated for the PrepVolleyball Andi Collins Award and for National Player of the Year," said Ginipro. "It's a huge honor for her to be considered for both of those awards with the other players on those lists."
Both players will join Appalachian State in the fall along with Jess Keller (Swarthomore, Pa./Strath Haven) and Hailey Kerr (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville).
