Organist Andrew Scanlon will present a guest recital Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.

Scanlon is a member of the keyboard faculty at East Carolina University and the organist-choirmaster at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville.

He has performed at national conventions of the American Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society, as well as throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, including in some of the world’s most significant religious venues such as St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Notre-Dame Cathedral, The American Cathedral and La Trinité (Paris).

His recital in Boone will include two movements from Felix Mendelssohn’s “Sonata in A Major, Op 65, No. 3,” Bach’s “Fantasia and Fugue in G Minor, BWV 542,” Jean Langlais’ “Suite Medièvale en forme de messe basse” and George Shearing’s “There is a Happy Land.”
